Modified nucleoside triphosphates (NTPs) are nucleoside triphosphates where the nucleoside component--a key building block of DNA and RNA--has been chemically modified. One strategy to reduce the immunogenicity of mRNA vaccines and therapeutics, and to improve their stability, is to introduce chemically modified nucleosides with alterations in the base, sugar, or phosphate moieties.
